BeAligned™ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a guided reflection tool for co-parents, operated by The Layne Project. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal reflections.

No Privileged Communication: The BeH2O® methodology was developed by Trina Nudson, who holds multiple qualifications including Juris Doctor (JD) and Licensed Bachelor of Social Work (LBSW). However, using BeAligned™ does not establish a professional relationship with her. Your reflection data is kept strictly confidential as outlined below, but it is not protected by attorney-client privilege, therapist-patient confidentiality, or any other legally privileged status.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the BeAligned™ platform (“Service”). Because our platform involves sensitive personal matters related to co-parenting, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of data protection.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (encrypted). If you use a promo code, we record that code.

Reflection Data: When you use the guided reflection tool, your conversation with the AI guide is stored securely. This includes your messages, AI responses, and any structured data extracted during the reflection process (e.g., identified emotions, values, and chosen actions).

Usage Data: We collect anonymized usage metrics including session duration, feature engagement, and AI model performance data. This data is used solely to improve the quality of the reflection experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the BeAligned™ reflection service
• To personalize your reflection journey across sessions
• To generate anonymous, aggregate insights for research purposes (with your consent)
• To communicate with you about your account and service updates
• To improve the AI reflection engine and user experience

4. Reflection Privacy — Our Core Commitment

Your reflections are yours alone. We will NEVER:

• Share your reflection content with your co-parent, attorneys, courts, or any third party
• Use your personal reflection data to train AI models
• Display reflection content to anyone other than you (the reflecting user)
• Allow co-parents to access each other's reflection data

If a Deep Think request is submitted, a BeH2O® Certified Coach may review the anonymized context of your reflection to provide personalized guidance. Your identity is never disclosed to the coach.

5. Research Partnership

BeAligned™ collaborates with Arizona State University (ASU) for research on co-parenting conflict resolution. Any data shared for research purposes is fully anonymized and de-identified. No personally identifiable information is ever shared with researchers. Participation in research is voluntary and governed by separate informed consent.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted data storage, and secure authentication through Firebase Authentication. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

7. Data Retention

Your reflection data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@bealigned.app.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your reflection history
• Withdraw consent for research participation

9. Children's Privacy

BeAligned™ is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of any material changes via email or in-app notification.
